Jack's Birthday

Jack had a great first birthday with the whole family and all his new toys. I made a great video of him playing in the rocking chair but it is only in super fast mode, so it is not much to see. But here he is with his new rocking chair! You can see the new car in the background too. Here is Pop and Mom laying out by the pool at their place. It was an infiniti pool that overlooked the ocean.

Here is Jack getting into his new car! I was playing with the color features on my new camera, I thought this picture was pretty cool.

Margo teaching Chico how to swim at Jack's birthday party. By the end of the party and a few beers later he was doing a great job!
Here is Jack holding the lunch box that Margo Brian and I gave him!
Overall we had great weekend. Destin weather was pretty good and hanging out with the family was sooooo much fun!

Orientation Trip: Eureka Springs

I got to go on Hendrix Orientation trip to Eureka Springs. Here is the whole group on the steps of the Haunted Cresent Hotel! Very spooky things going on there. It used to be an old "hospital" a.k.a. a lot of people died there. Here is one of the Tigers that was rescued from a family who kept it as a pet... I can't even imagine having a tiger as a pet. When we were cleaning out their habitats I got a really bad case of poison oak. So watch out for that the next time you are in a tiger's habitat.
This is the overlook for our cabin. It was amazing waking up and seeing this view!

Huntsville, AL

This weekend I took a quick trip to see Margo and Brian in Huntsville. It seems that I am never actually in Little Rock. When I was driving down Hwy. 72 towards Decatur, AL, I saw this amazing sunset and decided to take a picture. I happened to miss a turn or think i missed a turn and ended up making a slight detour just for this picture! When I arrived Margo and Brian immediately took me to El Omeca (their favorite Mexican restaurant)! On Saturday Margo and I went on a bit of a shopping spree. Margo found some great furniture: a desk for her office and an outdoor couch. When Pottery Barn loaded up my car with the couch we needed some twine. They came back with grosgrain ribbon - the kind they wrap their gifts with. Margo and I thought it was hilarious and had to take a picture.

On my drive back Sunday afternoon I stopped in Iuka, MS to get a subway snack and passed by two historical landmarks: Piggly Wiggly and the oldest Walmart I have seen in a while.

A little bit further down the road I passed by a BINGO center... one of many that I saw on Hwy. 72. It seems like a popular thing in all the "certified retirement communities" that you pass through.
When I was about to cross the Mississippi river, I came across a truck hauling a ton of fire hydrants in all different colors. I thought this was pretty cool. There were red and blue ones too.

Birthday Weekend - I'm 23!

My Birthday weekend was a blast. On Friday night we went to the Hendrix Night at the Travs! I got in free because I am staff (bonus that I was not aware of until I had arrived). Even more amazing because there was Midget Wrestling! Below is a brief preview of what it was like. At the game I cam across Emily and Ryan. I actually ended up meeting the whole Johnson family at the game!
Lana and Nick came in town for a week. Rachel came in town for the night to hang out! It was quite the reunion. There were quite a few Hendrix folks there and some of my incoming students!
Saturday: Rory, Paul (his roommate) and I went to a Beer Die tournament. It was a really fun game, but it was very very hot outside.
Afterwards we went to Loca Luna's for dinner and then to Our (Jenna and me) Birthday Party!!! I happened to leave my camera on the counter after taking this pictures, so I unfortunately did not capture any pictures other than this one. Sorry.

The Move Part 2 - My Bedroom

Now that I have downsized, I have had to condense all of my clothes and stuff. Last night I spent the better part of the evening (8-12pm) putting together my room. Now that Daniel has gotten most of his stuff out, I was able to move into the bathroom and the study, which gave me room to unpack clothes and bedroom stuff. Since I am headed to Huntsville today, I need to unpack and then pack again. My new room looks a lot like my dorm room. Below is my closest. There is still some organizing to do, but this will give you an idea of what it looks like. This is my wardrobe/ dance party area!
This my bed. I have not had a chance to put things on the wall yet, but everything is put away!!!

Just some cool stuff.

Here is what I have been up to the past few days.
This morning I was driving to work and I thought this was really pretty. The camera did not capture it exactly the way it looked when I originally decided to take the picture. Last night Sam and I went to the Flying Fish, because I still have not gone to the grocery store. The special was Snow Crab Legs. I could not pass them up. It was delicious! Sam was quite jealous.

On Monday we had our kickball meeting at Crush (a wine bar). It was a tasting that night. If you can tell, I took a lot of notes.
On Tuesday afternoon we went to tour the new Hendrix Academic Village. These are the new apartment/retail buildings. Formally known as building C and D. I am pretty sure the Sarah Alford and Sarah King have moved into one of these apartments.
Hendrix living is really stepping it up.

This is their kitchen. I was surprised at how modern everything was.
The each get their own bathroom too. Really? How nice would that have been in college.
The living rooms were a little smaller than I expected, but I think its still looks good!

Moving - Part 1

This weekend, i had the joy of packing and moving out of my apartment. Here is a brief insight into Friday, when we moved all of the big items out of my apartment. The apartment packed up. Yes, I still have my trunks from camp!
Katie and Cassie packing up the TRUCK! Those are some good looking rachet straps.

Katie double checking her work.

The gigantic truck that Katie borrowed from her brother, Nicholas. It has semi wheels on it! We were almost at eye level with the big trucks!
